Grassroots football: Inter FC Wins Enugu 2019 League

The 2019 edition of the Enugu State football Association FA\YKC soccer league ended during the weekend, with Inter. FC of Ngwo, emerging overall Champions, after beating Purple Krown Academy Football Club of Uwani Enugu, 3-0 in the final match of the competition.

The game which was played at the government Field Nsukka, attracted sports enthusiasts across the state, including a board member of the Nigeria football federation (NFF), who doubles as chairman of Enugu State Football Association, (FA) Chidi Ofo Okenwa, the state permanent Secretary, Ministry of youth and sports, Barrister Ngozi  Ani and other members of the  state football governing body.

Recall that in the 2018 edition of the Champions league, Inter FC lost in the finals to Inga’s FC of Enugu.

Speaking during the event, Okenwa thanked the sponsor for his kind gesture over the years, calling on other well- to do individuals and corporate organizations in the State to imbibe the culture of giving back to the society, by sponsoring  programmes that will impact on the lives of youths.

According to him, apart from being unifying factor, sports, especially football, has helped in taking jobless youths off the streets, a development that has continued to help in reducing the spate of crime in the state and the nation at large.

Okenwa however, assured that the state FA, under his leadership will continue to do everything within its power in taking grassroots soccer to the next level.

The Champions of the cometition smiled home with 0ne Hundred Thousand Naira  (N100,000) a giant trophy and medals, while, the  runners up players received certificate and medals.
